SANTA PAULA — Police are looking for two men who robbed a store clerk after tying him up with duct tape Sunday in Santa Paula, authorities said.
About 4:20 p.m., Ram Manwani, 25, was working behind the counter at his father’s store, Vir’s Mini Mart in the 4300 block of Santa Paula-Ojai Road when two men burst in, tied him up with duct tape and used a small handgun to rob him of about $500 in cash.
“The two guys just came in and pointed a gun at me,” Manwani said later that afternoon. “They ordered me to lay down on the ground, and then they tied me up.”
Both men are described as 18 to 20 years old, and both wore blue bandannas over their faces during the holdup, Manwani said.
The men took the cash, and as they were leaving, one of them kicked Manwani. It took the clerk just a short time to untie himself, and he called police.
As authorities searched for the suspects, Manwani went back to work--in good humor, considering his ordeal.
“This is the second time I’ve been robbed,” he said. “I was scared for a little bit.”
Manwani said his father purchased Vir’s Mini Mart in May.
