A Memorial to Victims of Violence

In Los Angeles City Hall’s “Silent Witness” exhibit, 20 life-size wooden silhouettes stand as testimony to victims of domestic violence. Passersby, above, look at one of the 19 silhouettes that bear a brief description of a woman’s death from domestic violence in 1995. A final silhouette in the exhibit represents “uncounted” women, whose deaths were ruled accidental or due to natural causes but who were victims of domestic abuse, organizers say. The display, created by the Junior League of Los Angeles, is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It will run through Aug. 29. The Bridge Gallery is located in a pedestrian walkway from City Hall to City Hall East.
