El Monte police will seek vehicular manslaughter charges against a 17-year-old motorist who struck and killed a Baldwin Park girl while driving without a license.
The 7-year-old girl, Donna Rios, was crossing the street Sunday afternoon after buying an ice cream from a truck when she was struck by the vehicle traveling 50 to 60 mph, witnesses told police.
She died later at Greater El Monte Hospital of severe head, chest and abdominal injuries, police said.
Police declined to name the driver because of his age. He is being held at a juvenile hall. El Monte police said their investigator expects to ask the district attorney’s office today to file vehicular manslaughter charges against the youth.
