What Are You Drinking

I was at a dinner at Chateau Cos d’Estournel last month with Bruno Prats and about 100 of his closest friends after Vinexpo. We started out with a 1988 Taittinger ‘Comtes de Champagne,’ then had a white Burgundy from Louis Jadot, a Chevalier-Charlemagne ‘Les Demoisselles,’ from 1983 and one of [its] red Burgundies, the 1978 Corton Rougets. Finally, he brought out a 1985 Cos. The best part was that the maker of each of those wines was there. I’ve done thousands of dinners, and good conversation, good wine and good food is a pretty hard combination to beat.
