A Los Angeles man arrested last month while driving a Honda that was stolen in Moorpark has been identified as the same man who burglarized 10 other Hondas in the city, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
Investigators used fingerprints to identify Elvin Jackson, 19, as the person who allegedly broke into the cars in two neighborhoods in Moorpark on July 26. He was arrested while driving a stolen Honda in Los Angeles later that night.
The Hondas, located in the Mountain Meadows and Peach Hill neighborhoods, had their driver’s or passenger’s side windows pried open. Personal property was stolen from the cars, said Det. Ron Nelson.
“He said he preferred Hondas because that’s the only car he knew how to break into,” Nelson said.
Jackson is in Los Angeles County Jail on suspicion of car theft, Nelson said. When he is released, he faces 10 counts of felony vehicular burglary, filed by the Ventura County district attorney’s office, Nelson said.
