Grant to Aid Growth of Homework Center

A $3,000 grant will enable the Ojai Valley Library Foundation to expand its year-old SchooLinks’ Homework Center.
The foundation received the money from the Los Angeles-based Arco Foundation, which had contributed $2,000 to get the program off the ground last year.
“This most recent grant will help us with our staffing costs and serve even more students in the months ahead,” said foundation President Greg Herring.
The homework center has offered almost 250 students access to CD-ROMs and the Internet, as well as homework assistance from volunteer tutors, since it began in 1996.
The foundation intends to hold workshops in the coming weeks to train more volunteers. The program begins again in September at the Ojai Library.
