Man, 82, Dies in Automobile Accident

SANTA CLARITA — An 82-year-old passenger was killed Tuesday after the car in which he was riding was broadsided in an intersection, a sheriff’s deputy said.
Archie Canning of Valencia died at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital after the 3:43 p.m. crash, which occurred at Valencia Boulevard and Citrus Drive.
Canning was the passenger in a Mercury driven by Glen Helm, 85, of Castaic. As Helm turned left on northbound Citrus Drive, his car was hit by a blue Honda driven by Amanda Bebak, 29, of Canyon Country, said Deputy Mike Shapiro of the Santa Clarita sheriff’s station.
Helm suffered moderate injuries in the crash. Bebak and her son Chase, 5, suffered minor injuries. All were treated at Newhall Memorial Hospital.
Deputies have not yet cited anyone in the crash, Shapiro said.
