Santa Ana College will host a dedication ceremony Sept. 16 for the recently opened Cesar Chavez Business and Computer Center.
College officials said they will honor the memory of Chavez, the late labor leader, on Mexican Independence Day on Sept. 16.
The two-story, 53,000-square-foot building includes six classrooms and six computer laboratories. College officials said that more than 60 business and computer science courses will be taught in the building this fall.
The building represents an advancement in the college’s ability to prepare students for the workplace, officials said.
“The local business community strongly utilizes technology and has a tremendous need for employees with technical knowledge,” said Fernando Niebla, chief executive officer of a local computer and technology training company. “It is mandatory that our institutions prepare students for the needs of the workplace.”
