Local nonprofit community groups are being sought to adopt a city park and keep it clean for 17 weeks.
In exchange for the maintenance, the groups each will receive $325 from the city.
The city sponsors the “Adopt-a-Park” program in an effort to keep the parks clean and to help community groups, officials said.
To be eligible for the program, organizations must be based in Fullerton. More than half of group members must live in the city.
Applications are available at City Hall, 303 W. Commonwealth Ave., and are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 4. All eligible applicants will be entered into a drawing, and the ones picked will be assigned one of 22 parks or a recreational trail.
If selected, group members will be expected to visit their parks at least once a week from Sept. 21 to Jan. 17. They must pick up litter and report dangerous objects, broken equipment or suspicious circumstances.
