Sheryl Swoopes, in her first significant action since giving birth seven weeks ago, scored 18 points in 21 minutes to lead the Houston Comets (16-7) to a 76-56 victory over the visiting Utah Starzz (6-17) before a crowd of 7,084. Cynthia Cooper, the WNBA’s leading scorer, led the Comets with 21 points. . . . Ruthie Bolton-Holifield matched her season high with 34 points as the Sacramento Monarchs (9-14) earned an 81-76 victory over the visiting Cleveland Rockers (12-11). . . . Jennifer Gillom scored six of her 23 points in a key second-half run as the Phoenix Mercury (11-11) defeated the visiting New York Liberty (15-7), 77-67, before 16,371.
