Spotlight: Informix Gets Much-Needed Cash Infusion

Informix Corp. solved its short-term financial problems with a $40-million infusion from New York investment firm Fletcher Asset Management Inc. Menlo Park-based Informix said it will use the cash to help it get “back on track toward profitability.” The world’s second-largest publisher of database programs said last week that it will revise its 1996 revenue lower by as much as $100 million and will cut its work force by 10% to 15%. Informix is a rival of Oracle Corp.
