A shooting aboard a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus Wednesday afternoon in South-Central Los Angeles left a 16-year-old boy wounded and two suspected teenage gang members in custody, police and MTA officials said.
Gunfire erupted about 2:30 p.m. on a bus westbound on Slauson Avenue near Vermont Avenue, authorities said.
“I heard a loud pop, pop, pop-- three loud shots,” said one witness.
Shortly before the shooting, the witness said, he recognized two gang members standing on the corner. After the shooting, the same two gang members and four others exited the bus and ran across Slauson Avenue.
Two 17-year-old suspects were arrested later near Menlo Avenue and 59th Place.
The victim was treated at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center and was listed in stable condition, authorities said.
