Ventura County Dist. Atty. Michael Bradbury might be within the law (for now) while accepting a government subsidy for renting a home to his mother on his own ranch (Aug. 10). However, is it right when others without families to help with housing remain on waiting lists for three to five years for rent subsidies?
Bradbury is a prime example of those who adjust their behavior to whatever will fit within the law. The reason we have so many laws is that not enough individuals will do the right thing.

Perhaps the article on Bradbury should have read more like this: “Ojai Resident Offers Low-Income Housing to Elderly Woman So She Can Be Near Grandchild.”
The district attorney is guilty of nothing more than helping someone who was already receiving a housing subsidy live closer to her family. That is not illegal, immoral or unethical. Perhaps his actions would have been unnecessary if the citizens of Ojai had allowed more low-income housing in their backyards.
