Boys and Girls Club to Sponsor Carnival

Hoping to bring a little bit of Disneyland to central Santa Ana, the Boys and Girls Club will sponsor its first-ever carnival beginning today.

The club hopes to raise up to $3,000 from the four-day event, which runs through Sunday.

Admission is $1, and rides will cost $1.50 to $2.25. Food and drink also will be available.

John Brewster, the club’s executive director, said the carnival is designed to boost the club’s profile in the community and attract more members.

“It’s a good way to get folks who may not normally know we’re here to get to know us,” he said.

Brewster said he hopes for up to 1,000 carnival visitors a day. Carnival hours are 5 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Carnival attractions, including a Ferris wheel and fun house, and other booths will be set up on the club’s side parking lot and backyard playground.
