MAI Systems Corp.: The Irvine developer of software for the hospitality industry said it lost $2.1 million, or 23 cents a share, for the second quarter. That contrasts with net income of $9.5 million, or $1.39 a share, for the comparable period in 1996, which included $7.3 million from a legal settlement. Revenue rose 23% to 18.4 million from $15 million. The year-to-date net loss was $3.3 million, or 37 cents a share, contrasted with profit of $11.3 million, or $1.34 a share, for last year’s first half. Revenue gained 18% to $35.2 million from $29.8 million.
