The remains of a woman found in a box near Chatsworth have been confirmed through fingerprints as those of 28-year-old Jeanette Cohen of Glendale, authorities said Saturday.
Investigator Claudine Ratcliffe of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said that an autopsy was scheduled for Saturday to try and determine the cause of death.
Cohen’s body was found by Glendale police in a remote area off Santa Susana Pass Road at about 4 a.m. Friday. She had been reported missing by relatives on Monday.
Police have arrested Anthony Roy Shivers Sr., a civilian California Highway Patrol dispatcher and Cohen’s ex-boyfriend, on suspicion of murder.
Investigators allege that Shivers killed Cohen before stuffing her corpse into a cardboard box, dumping it down a steep ravine and setting a fire to hide the evidence.
