Man Accidentally Backs Car Over Year-Old Daughter

SANTA ANA — A 35-year-old man critically injured his 13-month-old daughter after accidentally backing a car over her at about 9:15 a.m. Saturday, police said.
“The family was in the process of leaving the home to run errands,” Santa Ana Police Sgt. Paul Gonsalves said. “The father decided to pull their vehicle from the back of the house and wait for the rest of the family in the front. A 13-month-old girl followed her father without him knowing. He got in the vehicle, and, not realizing the child was behind him, backed up.”
The girl suffered massive head trauma from the weight of the car. She was listed in critical condition at Children’s Hospital of Orange County in Orange late Saturday.
Police did not arrest the father in the accident.
