Puerto Rico’s Caribbean National Forest, where Hurricane Hortense last September caused landsides that blocked access to most of the 28,000 acres, has reopened all areas except Big Tree Trail, said spokeswoman Lizzette Velez. . . . Entrance to all U.S. national parks will be free on Monday, Aug. 25; camping, boat launch and other recreation fees will still apply. The free day is a 10-year-old tradition, but it’s never been worth more than this year, when admission fees rose to $20 from $5 per car. . . . Tickets to the often-crowded Monterey Bay Aquarium can now be bought online, using credit cards, at the aquarium’s Web site (https://www.mbayaq.org) and at TicketWeb (https://www.ticketweb.com). They must be bought at least nine days in advance, and are mailed to your home address. A 10% service charge and 50 cents for mailing are added. Adult tickets are $14.75. . . . Santa Barbara’s Schooner Inn, in a building that dates to 1926, has reopened as the Hotel Santa Barbara at 533 State St. after more than $4 million in renovations that began in November 1996.
