Dart Unveils Settlement With Haft Family

Dart Group Corp.’s board has reached a multimillion-dollar settlement with three members of the wealthy Washington family that founded the retail firm, Dart said. If approved by Dart’s board, the settlement would mean the end of a pending claim by Robert, Gloria and Linda Haft to control Dart, the Landover, Md.-based parent company of the Crown Books, Trak Auto and Shoppers Food Warehouse chains. It also could end a very public four-year power struggle among members of the Haft family over business holdings. Dart Group said it expects to complete a separate settlement agreement by Sept. 2 with patriarch Herbert Haft.
