13-Month-Old Accidentally Run Over by Family Car Dies of Head Injuries

SANTA ANA — A 13-month-old Santa Ana girl accidentally run over by her father died of her injuries Sunday at Children’s Hospital of Orange County, police said.
Zitlaly Tinoco was pronounced dead at 10:30 a.m. of head injuries she suffered when her father backed a car over her at their home in the 900 block of South Flower Street, police said.
The family was about to leave home to run errands when the father, 31, decided to pull the car around front to wait for the others, police said. The toddler followed him out back without his knowledge.
Police called the incident a tragedy and said the father will not be charged in connection with the accident.
