Future hunters can learn safety skills--though they won’t be firing any guns--with a California Department of Fish and Game volunteer Aug. 27 and 30 in Mae Boyar Park on Kanan Road at Conifer Street.
Bruce Freeman,, a department volunteer for 10 years, will lead the two-day, 10-hour class, which is required for first-time hunters before they can purchase a license.
The first class is Aug. 27, from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The second class is Aug. 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The two sessions cost a total of $10.
The program is run through the Rancho Simi Recreation and Park District.
Preregistration is necessary. Call Freeman at (818) 707-2316 or the park district headquarters at (805) 584-4400..
