Zodiac’s Slim Playoff Hopes Ended

The Zodiac was officially eliminated from any chance of a playoff berth with a 3-1 loss to Vancouver in an A-League game Sunday in front of an announced crowd of 4,089 at Swangard Stadium in Burnaby, Canada.

The Zodiac started Sunday needing victories in its final five games just to have a chance at post-season play.

Vancouver’s victory was its fourth in a row despite being without three starters, who are away playing for the Canadian national team.

Felipe Rodriguez scored the Zodiac’s only goal on a free kick from about 25 yards in the 54th minute.

Vancouver (15-10) got three goals in the first half, which was marred by a minor fight that resulted in the ejection of one player from each team.

Jason Jordan scored in the 16th and 24th minutes and Oliver Heald added Vancouver’s final goal in the 34th minute.
