Re “Fed Putting a Crimp on the Economy, Critics Say,” Aug. 11: Some people are never happy, are they? Americans are experiencing unprecedented levels of low unemployment, low inflation and economic prosperity, yet Jeff Faux and his group of “growth optimists” advocate taking risks with the economy that are unproven.
Why jeopardize our children’s future in the name of greed? Do we want to leave our children with the burden of our “experiment” because we think that the economy might be able to grow faster? The growth optimists’ strategy lacks the insight and experience to warrant serious consideration. Let’s leave well enough alone and ensure a steady, growing economy for future generations. Carry on, Mr. Greenspan!
