Council Action Due on Housing Plan

Saddleback Land & Development Co. will seek approval from the City Council tonight to build 17 houses near City Hall.

The Newport Beach-based developer is proposing the single-family houses on vacant land at Chapman Avenue and All America Way.

The council will consider a General Plan amendment and zoning change to allow the houses on the land.

In addition, three houses are proposed on vacant lots just east, at Chapman and Mission Way. The developer plans to incorporate the three houses into the 17-home development.

The Planning Commission approved the housing project in July.

Council members also will consider awarding a $593,000 contract to All American Asphalt of Corona to reconstruct Orangethorpe Avenue in Placentia and Anaheim.

The project, from Melrose Street to Kraemer Boulevard, will include removal and replacement of failed pavement.

The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 401 E. Chapman Ave. Information: (714) 993-8231.
