JOLLY, Texas — A freight train derailed during stormy weather, tearing up track, closing a highway and slightly injuring one crew member.
None of the freight cars was carrying hazardous material, Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad spokesman Jim Sabourin said Monday.
Thirty cars of the train derailed Sunday evening about 13 miles east of Wichita Falls, damaging 1,000 feet of track. The conductor suffered a minor shoulder injury, Sabourin said. A section of U.S. 287 was closed for about six hours.
