CBS Inc. has named two former Warner Bros. television executives to newly created positions at the network’s in-house production unit, which produces such popular series as “Touched by an Angel,” “Walker, Texas Ranger” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.”
The appointments continue the buildup of CBS Productions at a time when all the major networks are relying increasingly on home-grown programs. It also continues an executive exodus at Warner Bros. Television since Leslie Moonves left as its head two years ago to take over CBS Entertainment.
On Tuesday, Moonves named Nina Tassler senior vice president of drama and Maria Rastatter senior vice president of comedy. Tassler was in charge of Warner Bros.’ drama development; Rastatter headed comedy development. They will report to Moonves and Nancy Tellem, who runs CBS Productions.
