Sanders Finds Divine Inspiration

Deion Sanders, said he has changed his ways and is a born-again Christian.

“I’ve opened the door for Jesus,” Sanders told a news conference at the Dallas Cowboy training facilities, where he showed up for a brief visit during a one-day break from baseball’s Cincinnati Reds.

“I’ve been born again and I’m not only showing it, I’m living it,” Sanders said, adding that his recent divorce allowed him to take a close look at himself and find religion again.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers heightened security at the team’s training complex for one practice after a player who was released this week reportedly threatened members of the organization.

The player, LaCurtis Jones, was waived Monday when the Buccaneers trimmed the roster to the 60-man limit.

“A situation arose yesterday that caused us to take some precautionary security measures. As of [Wednesday], the situation resolved itself,” Buccaneer spokesman Reggie Roberts said.

Defensive end Marvin Washington, who was released after eight seasons with the New York Jets, was signed to a one-year contract by the San Francisco 49ers.
