ARTAsia to Present Items Selected for Christie’s Auctions

ARTAsia 1997, the first in a projected series of Pan-Asian art exhibitions and related programs, will be held Sunday through Thursday at Christie’s new facility in Beverly Hills.
Artworks and furnishings on view, all selected from upcoming auctions, include a 15th century Tibetan bronze figure valued at $400,000 to $500,000; a 17th century Chinese wine table expected to bring $80,000 to $100,000; and Japanese ceramics estimated at $60,000 to $80,000. One special Chinese item, a 14th century “Fish Dish” from the Yuan Dynasty, is valued at more than $1.4 million.
The exhibition, at 360 N. Camden Drive, will be open Sunday, 1-5 p.m.; Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Christie’s will also present free informal lectures: “Tibetan Buddhist ARTtalk,” Sunday at 2 p.m.; “Chinese ARTtalk,” Monday at 6 p.m.; and “Japanese ARTtalk,” Thursday at 6 p.m.
