Baptists Urged to Back Disney Boycott

Compiled from Times staff and wire reports

The Southern Baptist Convention is asking members to eliminate at least $100 in spending on Walt Disney Co. products in the next year, following up on a June boycott resolution.

Concerned about Disney’s gay-friendly policies, the group is appealing to 91,000 pastors and church leaders in a fact sheet asking them to urge members for support.

Disney spokesman John Dreyer has said Disney is ready to talk. An informal meeting last month ended when both sides walked out.
