Monthly Residential Trash Rates to Dip
Residential trash rates will decrease slightly beginning next month, under a plan approved this week by the City Council.
Monthly residential payments of $13.81 will drop to $13.65 for the 1997-98 fiscal year, officials said. Commercial rates, which were reduced several months ago, will stay at $94.11 a month.
Several factors affected the trash rates, including less-than-projected revenue from the city’s recycling program and an increase in overall disposed waste. Those losses were offset, however, by lower fees at county-owned landfills.
