Man Arrested on Drug Charges

A Port Hueneme man was arrested after his two children allegedly found him unconscious from an apparent heroin overdose in their home, where police also found drugs and related paraphernalia, authorities said.

Peter Morrison, 27, was arrested and charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of heroin, possession of marijuana with intent to sell, and child endangerment, authorities said. The children, both under age 10, found their father unconscious at 7 p.m. Wednesday, police said.

The children went to neighbors for help after attempts to revive Morrison failed, police said. Upon their arrival, police and medical personnel were able to revive Morrison at the scene. He was not taken to a hospital.

After taking Morrison into custody, police reentered the house to secure it and make arrangements to release the children to family members.

During that time, police found more than a gram of heroin, several syringes and scales, packaging material and about 2 1/2 pounds of marijuana, authorities said. The marijuana was found in common areas throughout the house, including the kitchen, living room and near Morrison’s bedroom, police said.

Port Hueneme and Oxnard police department narcotics units were called to the scene. An investigation is continuing.
