City police and code enforcement and Community Services officials will be working with residents and property owners today to clean up neighborhoods in the Pauline Street area.
More than 350 volunteers, including residents, property owners and members of Power Community Church, will pitch in to trim weeds and bushes, remove graffiti, sweep alleyways and perform other work to improve the neighborhoods.
Bruce Freeman, city code enforcement supervisor, said debris and unwanted household items will also be hauled away.
Streets targeted for the beautification effort are Pauline, Topeka, Olive and Sabina, Freeman said.
In recent months, residents and property owners have met with community policing officers, code enforcement and Community Services officials in an effort to improve the quality of life in the neighborhoods.
The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. with a street festival following around noon.
The fair will feature games, crafts and other activities for the neighborhood.
Power Community Church, located in the neighborhood, has adopted the area as the focus of community improvement efforts.
