Kyle Kane, a right-handed reliever at Saddleback College, has agreed to a contract with the Chicago White Sox, school officials said Friday.
Coach Jack Hodges said Kane told him Friday he would sign the contract.
Last season, Kane was 2-1 with a save and 0.64 earned-run average in 14 appearances. He gave up two earned runs in 28 innings--both home runs--and struck out 29.
Kane played the outfield one season at Nevada before transferring to Saddleback for the 1997 season. He was converted to a pitcher after injuring his leg.
