Sonoma County’s Tony Coscia pitched a five-hitter to defeat the Vigilantes, 7-1, in a Western Baseball League game Friday at Rohnert Park.
Coscia (6-4), who struck out nine and didn’t walk a batter, kept the Vigilantes scoreless until Chris Briones homered in the eighth, his third of the season. Bret Barberie and Mike Cowell each doubled for the Vigilantes.
Scott Singleton started for the Vigilantes, despite having the flu, and he lasted four innings. Singleton (5-10) gave up four earned runs on five hits, struck out three and walked five.
With his team leading 2-0 in the fourth, Sonoma County’s Carter Masterson hit a low line drive past Alan Burke in left field for a two-run triple.
