A man under police surveillance for outstanding warrants and suspicion of transporting illegal narcotics was arrested over the weekend after a brief car chase through residential areas of Simi Valley, police said.
Patrolmen arrested 30-year-old Ryan Stacey Resnick about 8:30 p.m. Saturday near the corner where Woodrow Avenue turns from east to north after he abandoned his vehicle and took off running.
According to authorities, several officers were watching the residence where Resnick was staying. When the suspect drove away, Simi Valley police attempted to stop him for a driving violation.
But Resnick did not stop and allegedly tried to elude police.
A search of the car revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine, a scale, packaging materials and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Resnick, who was wanted on outstanding drug warrants, was booked into Ventura County Jail. He is scheduled for arraignment on Tuesday.
