The city’s libraries have installed self-service copiers, fax machines and computers to improve public service.
APS of San Bernardino has entered into an agreement with the city to provide photocopiers and fax machines at the Haskett, Sunkist, Euclid and Canyon Hills branches and at the Central Library. Color copiers and personal computers also will be available at Central and Canyon Hills libraries. Computer use will cost $3 an hour; the PCs feature Microsoft Office and Print Shop Deluxe.
The equipment uses debit cards, which will be available through a self-service dispenser that accepts cash or credit cards.
Library officials said the addition of the equipment will free library employees to spend more time with the public.
APS will give the libraries a percentage of the sales. The company also furnishes all equipment, supplies and performs maintenance at no cost to the city.
