A brush fire that charred five acres of hillside in a Moorpark neighborhood Monday afternoon was started by children playing with matches, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The fire began about 6 p.m. near Sir George Court, a residential area surrounded by gentle hills.
Ten fire engines and more than 30 firefighters fought the blaze, which was fully contained by 8, fire officials said. No structures were threatened and there were no injuries.
