Hit-Run Victim Dies in Emergency Room

A transient struck by a hit-and-run driver while crossing the street Sunday evening died as a result of his injuries, according to the Oxnard Police Department.
Alan James Allred, 50, who usually pushed a shopping cart through the streets and alleys of Oxnard, was crossing 5th Street just east of Meta Street about 7:15 p.m., police said.
He was hit by a westbound vehicle, whose driver failed to stop.
Allred died in the emergency room of St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, police said.
Police are looking for a white Chevrolet pickup truck with damage to its right front fender and grill. Anyone with information about the accident, or the identity of the driver, may call Oxnard police at 385-7780.
