Five people were hospitalized Thursday after being exposed to vapors during a chemical spill at a trucking company.
Paramedics and hazardous-material teams were sent to Crescent Truck Lines in the 11900 block of Regentview Avenue about 7:40 a.m. after a 55-gallon drum of trichloroethylene, a solvent used for cleaning metals, spilled on the loading dock.
Nine people were exposed to vapors and five were taken to hospitals for observation, said Robert Rowe, deputy fire marshal in Downey. He said the injuries were not serious.
