Woman on Life-Support After Freeway Crash

A Los Angeles woman was on life-support systems Thursday after being involved in a car crash on the elevated level of the Harbor Freeway that killed her 8-month-old son and injured her three other children, a hospital spokeswoman said.
Jenny Sandoval, 26, was listed in extremely critical condition with major head trauma at County-USC Medical Center, spokeswoman Adelaida De LaCerda said. Her son, Josh Louis Antunez, was strapped into an infant car seat but died at the scene of the accident .
Sandoval’s 8-year-old son, Brain Teves, was listed in serious condition with abrasions and body trauma. Another son, Mikie, 4, was at Martin Luther King Jr./Drew Medical Center and listed in stable condition. Her daughter, Stephanie, 6, was listed in stable condition at Harbor/UCLA Medical Center, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The accident occurred Wednesday about 12:30 p.m. when the car Sandoval was driving was rear-ended by a pickup truck and sent careening into the freeway retaining wall, authorities said. It was the first fatal accident on the upper level of the freeway.
