The man whose body was found washed ashore on a private beach along Ventura County’s southernmost coastline was identified Thursday as David Brown, 42, of Baldwin Park, authorities said.
His drowning after a fall from a cliff was ruled a suicide, according to a spokesman with the Ventura County medical examiner’s office.
Also listed as significant factors in Brown’s death were cuts to his wrists, coroner’s officials said.
An autopsy conducted Thursday found that a head wound initially believed to be the result of a gunshot was instead caused by the fall, authorities said. On Monday, Brown was reported missing to authorities in Baldwin Park, northeast of Los Angeles.
His body was discovered at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the waterline across from Yerba Buena Road, about two north of the Los Angeles County line.
