Got yard waste? Don’t throw it in the trash bin, learn how to recycle it into nutrient-rich soil at a compost workshop today at the Northridge Recreation Center.
Experts from the Los Angeles Bureau of Sanitation will show residents how to turn yard trimmings, leaves, grass, fruits and vegetables into high-quality fertilizer. Grass recycling, mulching, worm composting and other topics also will be covered.
Bins for composting can be purchased at the workshop or between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. on the second Friday or fourth Saturday of each month through Nov. 22 at the Griffith Park Composting Facility.
Today’s free workshop runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the recreation center, 10058 Reseda Blvd. For more information, call (800) 773-CITY or (213) 893-8251.
