DODGERS’

RAMON MARTINEZ

(7-3, 3.34 ERA)

vs.

MARINERS’

BOB WOLCOTT

(5-5, 5.63 ERA)

* Update--Martinez, who sat out 51 games and 10 starts because of a shoulder injury, made his first official appearance in the first game of a doubleheader Monday in Pittsburgh, giving up two runs (one earned) and five hits in five innings. His last start before he went on the disabled list was when he had no decision in a 9-8 loss at Seattle on June 14 at Seattle, giving up five runs on five hits in four innings, including solo home runs to Edgar Martinez and Paul Sorrento. He had held the opposition to two earned runs or less in his previous seven starts before his start against the Mariners. Seattle has lost four of its last five games. Alex Rodriguez, who has six stolen bases in the last seven games, has stolen 28 bases this season, the most by a Mariner since Harold Reynolds had 28 in 1991. The Mariners have hit home runs in 24 of their last 25 games. They’re on pace to hit 256 home runs, which would rank as the second-most in major league history behind Baltimore’s 257 last season. Ken Griffey Jr. has 43 home runs and 121 RBIs.
