Calvary Chapel’s Short, Murrieta Lead in Opener

Keith Short rushed for three touchdowns and Dan Murrieta completed seven of nine passes for 103 yards and one touchdown as Calvary Chapel opened its football season with a 34-20 victory over Wailuku King Kekaulike in Hawaii.
Short opened the scoring in the first quarter with a four-yard touchdown run. He also rushed for touchdowns of seven and 11 yards.
Murrieta connected with Luke Clardy with 6:44 left in the first half as the Eagles rolled to a 26-12 lead at halftime.
Calvary Chapel (1-0) finished with 264 yards in total offense; King Kekaulike (0-2) had 133 yards total offense and was shut out in the first and fourth quarters.
