Johnson Starts for Panthers

The comeback of Carolina’s Tshimanga Biakabutuka from reconstructive knee surgery hit a snag when the Panthers chose Anthony Johnson to start at halfback in their opener against Washington.
Biakabutuka, the Panthers’ top draft choice in 1996, played in four games before a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee required season-ending knee surgery.
