JetHawks Lose Third Straight, 10-3

Two pitchers combined on a four-hitter for the San Jose Giants in a 10-3 victory over the Lancaster JetHawks on Friday night in a California League Valley Division game in San Jose.
With the Modesto A’s defeating visiting Stockton, 6-0, Lancaster, which has lost three straight, is tied with the A’s for a wild-card spot with two games remaining.
Jason Bond (5-7) got the loss, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits in 5 1/3 innings, walking five and striking out six. He gave up a three-run home run to Teo Prospero in the fourth inning that put the Giants (69-69, 29-39) ahead to stay, 4-2.
Lancaster took a 2-1 lead with two out in the second inning when Luis Molina scored from second on a single by Cirilo Cruz. Shawn Buhner scored on Molina’s single.
Jim Horner’s fifth-inning home run cut San Jose’s margin to 4-3.
Jeff Andra (1-4) pitched the first five innings, allowing three earned runs and all four hits while walking four and striking out seven. Luis Estrella held the JetHawks hitless for the final four innings, walking one and striking out six.
The High Desert Mavericks (82-56, 44-24) clinched the Valley Division second-half championship outright with a 4-1 victory at Rancho Cucamonga.

If the JetHawks win the wild-card spot, they would play host to the second game of a best-of-three series Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
Team officials announced that the ticket office will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday and Monday selling playoff tickets if Lancaster beats out Modesto in the wild-card race.

Should the JetHawks finish the regular season tied with Modesto for the wild-card position, a tiebreaker game will be played Monday at Modesto at 7:05 p.m. A coin toss held Friday morning in the California League office determined the site.
