4 Telemarketers Get Prison in Stock Swindle

Four San Fernando Valley telemarketers were sentenced to federal prison terms ranging up to six years for bilking stock investors out of more than $1 million, authorities said Tuesday.
U.S. District Judge Audrey C. Collins sentenced Anthony Durant, 43, of Canoga Park, to 70 months; Kirk Kuykendoll, 53, of Thousand Oaks to 61 months; Henry Perrin, 60, of Van Nuys to 46 months; and Sharman Walker, 49, of Canoga Park to 41 months in prison.
The telemarketers worked for Assured International Inc. of Woodland Hills, which held itself out as a manufacturer and distributor of high-quality latex gloves and condoms that was about to become a publicly traded company. The company’s claims were bogus, prosecutors said.
Assured’s owner, Sam Harris, 48, of Newbury Park was recently sentenced to 70 months in prison.
