Small market: Apart from “Brown Sugar” opening at No. 3, the most interesting box-office news involved films opening in only a few theaters. Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Punch-Drunk Love” knocked out a per-theater average of $73,441 in five sites. “Bowling for Columbine” also delivered a strike with an average of $26,125 in eight. Then there was the Madonna bomb: “Swept Away” shortly will be, with a total of $354,052 in 196 theaters.
