The father of an infant on life support following a violent shaking pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges of child abuse.
Moises Vasquez Ibarra, 24, appeared in Orange County Superior Court and entered his plea to two counts of felony child abuse and one count of a special enhancement for inflicting corporal injury upon a child. A hearing was scheduled for Oct. 25.
Tamara Sepulveda, 24, had petitioned the court to disconnect her 1-year-old son, Christopher Ibarra, from a respirator. The infant has been on life support since Dec. 17.
The court ruled that Christopher should remain on life support pending a hearing to determine the child’s best interests. The hearing will be held Monday.
