Angels Beating Odds
If you had walked into the MGM Grand Hotel or the Mirage in Las Vegas last November and bet on the Angels to win the World Series, you would have gotten 50-1 odds.
The San Francisco Giants were at 10-1.
The odds on the teams winning their respective pennants were 40-1 on the Angels back in January and 5 1/2-1 on the Giants.
The Angels were slightly favored as of Wednesday to emerge victorious in the 2002 World Series at 6 1/2-5.
The odds are nearly the same for both teams in terms of the length of the series. It’s 8-1 on either club winning in a sweep, 5-1 on either winning in five games, and 4-1 on either winning in six games. The only difference is a seventh game. The Angels are 4-1 to win in seven, the Giants 5-1.
